Diet Snowy Owls can take prey in flight or from the ground - they also take
prey from the surface of water. Lemmings and small mammals make up
the majority of their diet although hares are often taken as well. Other
birds and mammals are taken depending on the habitat and availability
of such prey.
Lifespan About 10 years in the wild and over 30 years in captivity
Habitat Grasslands, fields and arctic conditions are favoured.
Locations Northern regions of the globe around the arctic including Alaska,
Canada, North America, Northern Europe and Russia. They are
nomadic and move further south during periods when food
sources are scarce.
